8" x 8" oil on canvas: Macworth Island

Okay Jayne, it's time to get to work! Chuck and I painted at Macworth yesterday, it was so great. The tide came up so fast, his french easel and feet were under water, persistent Charles...he painted until his feet were wet.

and finally, sky2 is done. Sky 3 has already been started. I sketched these three at the beach day before yesterday when the sky had a really spring color to it, and the gulls had congregated on a fishing boat. I took picture with my cell phone as they flew off. Jayne, when are you going to organize our blog. Also, I'm sad that we didn't get our sweet model tonight.

I love those Jayne!! And I want to try that paper, not with this painting, but maybe one of the landscapes, (Texas, maybe?) Anyway, here is the first of three in the sky series I told you about. I don't know what possessed me, the gulls, I guess, it was just so pretty on the water yesterday...

Look!

Rache - I wanted to show you the watercolors I had framed at your mother's shop (the wonderful House of Frames on Broadway in South Portland!). She's having that 50% off sale. It was such a good deal I had to frame some of these old watercolors that were just laying around.
PS. I also made some cards and have lots of this paper if you ever want to make some. . .

So, I did not quit, after all.

Sunday, August 17, 2008

Finally finished this one, it isn't easy being solely responsible for bringing rain during a drought, but as you can see by the clouds in these last two, as always, I have managed.
I can't help it, I'm in Texas.

Overcast Monday

Studying colors, and their neutrals made this a perfect pleinair day.

Monday's Homework

We were asked to paint trees and skip detail...a perfect assignment for me, since I feel completely incapable...

Tuesday Night peppers

Here are my peppers, Jayne, are you posting yours? I miss you, and our exchanges. It's time to start up again, k???

Wednesday's homework

Okay Jayne, the assignment was, black and white, then color. I took it one step further and said, some detail, less detail. It was tough to do this with different light each time, I should've sat still! Your turn!

Willard Point

Okay Jayne, as you know, I started this one last summer, did the underpainting and then quit. It has been in my upstairs bedroom for too long, I finally dusted it off and finished it.

Willard Beach

I promised I'd post this, Jayne, and am still struggling with how to capture afternoon light.

Chadwick Street

Hi Jayne, look--you can see the shadow of my fingers holding this oil sketch! I sat outside while the sun was going down and lost light so fast. Maybe I'll sit out again later today at the same time to fill in some detail, and see what I missed!

Pond Cove

Hi Rache. This is from a photo that Judy took early one morning, at the end of one of our runs this week. There was a light fog hovering over the back of the marsh - it was hard to capture in paint.
