This view from the patio allowed me to be social with my family, as we all sat on the patio enjoying one another, and the views. An 8" x 10" plein air canvas with water soluble oils and a #2 round brush.

An overcast morning at the Lovell town beach. The sun came out very shortly afterwards, and I made plans to do a much larger canvas of this same view. That will take some time to finish! This is one of those inch and-a-half thick canvases, water soluble oils and a new #2 round brush.

This cloudy, windy day I stayed closer to the house, you can see the stems from the lily pads in the foreground, and just s few of the White Mountains can be seen on the horizon, behind the trees across Kezar Lake. This is a 6" x 8" plein air canvas, and I used water soluble oils and my new #2 round brush which I am loving.
This view is from the dock of the Bradford's summer lake house, which we have been renting for two summers. It's a beautiful view of the White Mountains. There are trees on the right that I simply did not paint in, as everything had begun to shift well before I had established the elemnets on the canvas. This canvas is quite small, 5" x 7" and has an inch and a half deep sides, which I painted a grey blue. Water soluble oils with my new #2 round brush.

Kezar Lake

Spending the week at Kezar Lake, this is the view of the White Mountains from the town beach in Lovell. It's a small 8"x 10", plein-air canvas; and my favorite water soluble oils. I use a new #2 round brush for all but the sky.

8" x 8" oil on canvas: Macworth Island

Okay Jayne, it's time to get to work! Chuck and I painted at Macworth yesterday, it was so great. The tide came up so fast, his french easel and feet were under water, persistent Charles...he painted until his feet were wet.

and finally, sky2 is done. Sky 3 has already been started. I sketched these three at the beach day before yesterday when the sky had a really spring color to it, and the gulls had congregated on a fishing boat. I took picture with my cell phone as they flew off. Jayne, when are you going to organize our blog. Also, I'm sad that we didn't get our sweet model tonight.

Look!

Rache - I wanted to show you the watercolors I had framed at your mother's shop (the wonderful House of Frames on Broadway in South Portland!). She's having that 50% off sale. It was such a good deal I had to frame some of these old watercolors that were just laying around.
PS. I also made some cards and have lots of this paper if you ever want to make some. . .

So, I did not quit, after all.

Sunday, August 17, 2008

Finally finished this one, it isn't easy being solely responsible for bringing rain during a drought, but as you can see by the clouds in these last two, as always, I have managed.
I can't help it, I'm in Texas.

Wednesday's homework

Okay Jayne, the assignment was, black and white, then color. I took it one step further and said, some detail, less detail. It was tough to do this with different light each time, I should've sat still! Your turn!
